MAIPA organises 120th birth anniversary of the former Lok Sabha Speaker
TIRUPATI: Glowing tributes were paid to the qualities of the head and heart of M. Ananthasayanam Ayyengar, a great son of the soil and former Lok Sabha Speaker and the Bihar Governor on the eve of his 120th birth anniversary celebrated at Tirupati on Friday under the aegis of the “Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Institute of Public Administration” (MAIPA).
Interesting rulings
Presiding over the function the founder-head of MAIPA and former AP Assembly Speaker, Dr. A. Eswara Reddy recalled the interesting rulings which the late Ayyengar had given during his stint as the Lok Sabha's second speaker. He said that the former Speaker commanded equal respect from the stalwarts of the house both on the treasury and the opposition benches.
Simple person
He described him as a simple and unassuming person with a sense of ready wit and humour and said that as a befitting tribute to the great nationalist cum educationalist, the MAIPA in league with the elite of Tirupati would take up with the central government to get his postal stamp released.
Contribution
He said another tribute to his memory would be to get either the entire Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetha, Tirupati or a block of it, named after late Ananthasayanam Ayyengar, in recognition of his contributions to the institution in the early stages of its formation.
Kamalanathan, former professor and HoD of SVU's Department of Political Science and Public Administration, K. Satagopan, Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi, Hyderabad and his wife, N. Sobhana who is a great grand-daughter of late Ayyengar were among the other participants.
